The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 5,059 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 79 additional deaths Monday.
The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate increased from 8.3% to 8.6%. The state received the results of 48,254 COVID-19 tests in the 24 hours leading up to Monday afternoon.
Illinois has seen 984,880 total cases of the virus, and 16,834 people have died. The state has conducted a total of 13,530,371 tests since the start of the pandemic.
As of late Sunday, Illinois had 3,948 COVID-19 patients in the hospital. Of those, 816 were in intensive care units, and 471 were on ventilators.

Regional update: Currently, all 11 of the state’s health regions are under additional mitigation measures from the IDPH, and as of Nov. 20, all 11 regions are under Tier 3 mitigations.

The North Suburban region (McHenry and Lake counties) has seen 12 consecutive days under 12% for its COVID-19 test positivity rate. The region’s positivity rate increased slightly to 9.9%. Currently, 16.1% of medical/surgical beds are available and 26.8% of ICU beds.
The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and five consecutive days under the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.
Within this region, McHenry County’s seven-day positivity rate average increased to 12.7%. Lake County, which does about two-thirds of the testing in the region, is reporting a rolling average of 8.9%.
Hospitalizations have decreased seven out of the past 10 days in this region.
Finally, within the Lake/McHenry region, there are 48 available, staffed ICU beds out of 188 total, and 252 ventilators available out of 295.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 10.2%. Currently, 23.1% of medical/surgical beds are available and 27.1% of ICU beds.
The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and two consecutive days over the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.
Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 11.9%, and DuPage County is at 9.3%.
Finally, within the DuPage/Kane region, there are 95 available, staffed ICU beds out of 234 total and 360 ventilators available out of 579.
The South Suburban region (Will and Kankakee counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 10.8%. Currently, 26.8% of medical/surgical beds are available and 29.0% of ICU beds.
The region has 11 consecutive above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and four consecutive days above the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.
Hospitalizations have decreased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.
Finally, within the Will/Kankakee region, there are 55 available, staffed ICU beds out of 162 total.
The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under the 12% positivity rate. The region’s positivity rate increased to 10.3%. Currently, 29.3% of medical/surgical beds are available and 26.3% of ICU beds.
The region has 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.
Within this region, DeKalb County’s positivity rate increased to 13.3%, Lee County’s rate decreased to 3.1%, and Whiteside County’s rate increased to 12.3%.
Finally, within this region, there are 56 available, staffed ICU beds out of 179 total, and 254 ventilators out of 343 available.
The North-Central region (Bureau, Fulton, Grundy, Henderson, Henry, Kendall, Knox, La Salle, Livingston, Marshall, McDonough, McLean, Mercer, Peoria, Putnam, Rock Island, Stark, Tazewell, Warren and Woodford counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate stayed flat at 9.5%.
Currently, 26.7% of medical/surgical beds are available and 19.9% of ICU beds.
The region has one day under the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.
Within this region, La Salle County’s seven-day positivity rate decreased to 6.0%.
Finally, within this region, there are 44 available, staffed ICU beds out of 235 and 387 ventilators out of 489.
Chicago has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 10.0%. Currently, 22.2% of medical/surgical beds are available and 25.8% of ICU beds.
The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and two consecutive days above the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.
Hospitalizations have decreased 11 out of the past 10 days in this region.
Suburban Cook County has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 9.8%. Currently, 22.9% of medical/surgical beds are available and 22.7% of ICU beds.
The region has three consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and three days over 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.
Hospitalizations have decreased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.
