Bureau Junction man arrested, charged with involuntary manslaughter

Authorities say victim died as a result of altercation

A Bureau Junction man has been arrested, charged with involuntary manslaughter as the result of the January death of Tyson McCann.

Billy Raye Tillotson, 53, was arrested by Bureau County deputies at 7:30 p.m. Friday according to Bureau County Sheriff Jim Reed.

He is being charged with involuntary manslaughter in the Jan. 20 death of Tyson McCann, 55, also of Bureau Junction.

On January 20, 2022, Tillotson and McCann were involved in an altercation that resulted in McCann’s death, the sheriff’s office said.

The case is being prosecuted by Bureau County State’s Attorney Geno Caffarini.

Tillotson is being held on a $200,000 bond.

Reed said Tillotson was taken into custody on a warrant without incident. He also is is awaiting trial on charges of driving with a revoked license.
