Man of many hats: Brent Ziegler promoted to superintendent at La Moille

LA MOILLE - Brent Ziegler has worn a lot of hats for the La Moille School District — varsity basketball coach, substitute teacher, staff teacher, athletic director and principal.

Now he’s trying the superintendent’s hat on for size.

Ziegler was promoted to Superintendent/High School Principal for La Moille Community Unit School District #303, effective Jan. 1, 2021. He succeeds Jay McCracken, who served as interim superintendent for three years.

“I’ve worked in the district now, I have to count sometimes, 19 years. They go by pretty fast,” Ziegler said. “I’ve had several different positions and they’ve all been rewarding. I look forward to serving the district and continuing to provide the best education I can for the students and support for the families.

“It’s really an honor to continue to be able to work in the same district. You learn new parts of the educational system. It’s really a growing process as you move through different positions within your district. Every move builds your knowledge and every day you work harder to provide the best opportunities for your students in our three schools. That’s the goal.”

Ziegler, 47, is a native of Ladd and graduated from Hall in 1991.

He has been employed by the La Moille district since 2001, starting his career as the LHS varsity boys basketball coach and did some substitute teaching. He was hired the following year as social studies teacher at Allen Junior High and later split teaching duties between junior high and the high school.

Ziegler, who earned his Administrative Certificate in 2008 from ISU, was hired as the LHS Assistant Principal and District Athletic Director in 2014. He became principal in 2015.

He earned his Superintendent Endorsement from ISU in December of 2020.
