The following cases were considered by the Bureau County Grand Jury on Nov. 10:
Kenneth J. Knight, 40, of Chicago, was indicted for the class 1 felony offense of unlawful possession of methamphetamine. He is accused of possessing more than 15 grams but less than 100 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine. A trooper from the Illinois State Police testified before the grand jury. Knight is in custody of the Bureau County Sheriff’s Department with bond set in the amount of $40,000 — 10% of which must be posted for his release.
Tanavung Tim, 27, of Rochester, N.Y., was indicted for the class X felony offense of cannabis trafficking and the class X felony offense of unlawful possession with the intent to deliver cannabis. He is accused of bringing 5,000 or more grams of cannabis into the state with the intent to deliver and possessing with the intent to deliver more than 5,000 grams of a substance containing cannabis. A trooper from the Illinois State Police testified before the grand jury. Tim is released from custody after posting bond in the amount of $500,000 — 10% of which was posted for his release.
Jesus Gonzalez, Jr., 38, of Denver, was indicted for the class 1 felony offense of unlawful possession with the intent to deliver cannabis. He is accused of possessing with the intent to deliver more than 2,000 grams but less than 5,000 grams of a substance containing cannabis. A trooper from the Illinois State Police testified before the grand jury. Gonzalez is released from custody after posting bond in the amount of $50,000 — 10% of which was posted for his release.
Eduardo Lopez, 21, of DePue, was indicted for the class 4 felony offense of resisting a peace officer. He is accused of resisting an officer acting within his official capacity in that he fought against the officer causing injury to the officer’s arm. The DePue officer testified before the grand jury. Lopes is released from custody after posting bond in the amount of $5,000 — 10% of which was posted for his release.
Maurice D. LeFlore, 35, of Marcus, Iowa, was indicted for the class 3 felony offense of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. He is accused of possessing a firearm when he is a convicted felon. A trooper from the Illinois State Police testified before the grand jury. LeFlore is released from custody after posting bond in the amount of $50,000 — 10% of which was posted for his release.
Brittany M. Washington, 31, of Oswego, was indicted for the class 1 felony offense of unlawful possession with the intent to deliver cannabis. She is accused of possessing with the intent to deliver between 2,000 and 5,000 grams of a substance containing cannabis. An agent from the TRI-Dent Drug Task Force testified before the grand jury. Washington is released from custody after posting bond in the amount of $10,000 — 10% of which was posted for her release.
These indictments were presented to the grand jury by Bureau County State’s Attorney Geno Caffarini, First Assistant States Attorney Thomas Briddick and Assistant State’s Attorney Daniel Anderson and were returned before judges Marc Bernabei and James Andreoni.
These indictments are only accusations against the defendants. They are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
