A little more than a week after his release from Chicago, former Bears left tackle Charles Leno is reportedly signing with the Washington Football Team.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport first reported the signing. Leno agreed to a one-year contract worth $5 million.

Leno had started 93 consecutive regular season games for the Bears at left tackle. It has been quite a run for a former seventh-round draft pick.
The team parted ways with him last week after selecting rookie Teven Jenkins in the second round of the NFL draft. Releasing Leno will save the Bears approximately $9 million in salary cap space.

In Washington, Leno has found a landing spot that allows him to continue that starting streak. Washington drafted Texas offensive tackle Samuel Cosmi in the second round of the draft, but signing Leno gives the team a veteran who can start immediately, allowing Cosmi more time to prepare at the NFL level.
