KANE COUNTY – Illinois public officials on Friday reported 562 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and six new deaths: 1 male 40s, 1 female 60s, 1 female 70s, 2 females 80s and 1 male 80s.
That's a decrease from the 681 new cases reported on Thursday. Kane County has now seen 28,225 total cases of the virus and 408 people have died.
The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen six days of positivity increases and three days of hospital admission increases, a decrease in both metrics. The region's positivity rate decreased to 14.6%. Currently, 19% of medical/surgical beds are available and 26% of ICU beds. Within this region, Kane County's seven-day positivity average is at 16.7%, and DuPage County is at 13.5%.
The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state's 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 13,012 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 126 additional deaths Friday. The IDPH received the results of 116,024 tests leading up to Friday afternoon.
According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state decreased from 12.0% to 11.5%.
Illinois now has seen 634,395 total cases of the virus, and 11,304 people have died.
