The Pearl Steel model windmill was manufactured by the Batavia Wind Mill Company, one of Batavia's smaller and lesser-known windmill factories. This windmill is on display on the west side of the Batavia City Hall building. (Mark Foster)

Published by the Batavia Public Library, the book "Windmill City: A Guide to the Historic Windmills of Batavia, Illinois" is now in its second edition. The city of Batavia and the Library are collaborating to create a computer application based on the book, designed to create an interactive tour of the windmills on display throughout the community. The book is available for no charge at the library. (Mark Foster)
