The second brother whom police said was involved in a shooting in Joliet that left two people injured has been taken to the Will County jail.

Luis Flores, 24, was jailed following a court appearance Monday morning at the new Will County Courthouse building. His attorney, Cosmo Tedone, filed a motion that said Flores wished to voluntarily surrender himself after a warrant was issued for his arrest and he wanted his bond reduced.

Judge Carmen Goodman signed a $750,000 warrant two days after the Oct. 20 shooting for Flores’ arrest, court records show. Flores was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

Will County Assistant State’s Attorney Tom Slazyk argued against reducing Flores’ bond. Slazyk said Flores and his brother Eduardo Flores 23, of Joliet were involved in an incident where the two shot into a crowd of people.

Joliet police said a man was injured with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and a woman suffered a graze wound to her arm during the incident.

Eduardo Flores was charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm, court records show.

Judge Dave Carlson said he wanted a pretrial risk assessment completed for Luis Flores. He ordered him into custody and kept his bond at $750,000.

Eduardo Flores’ attorney, Chuck Bretz, also filed a motion to have his client’s bond reduced. The motion asked for the $1.5 million bond to be reduced to $100,000.

A hearing was held on the motion and Carlson took the matter under advisement, court records show.
