Sauk Valley reports 152 new COVID-19 cases Monday

The Whiteside County Health Department announced 42 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. The new cases involved seven people under 20, three in their 20s, seven in their 30s, four in their 40s, six in their 50s, six in their 60s and nine in their 70s.

Whiteside County also had six additional recoveries.

In a 14-day stretch from October 12-25, Whiteside County had 465 new cases, compared to 240 the previous 14 days, with increases seen in every age group.

Lee County announced 28 new cases on Monday, with 11 of those coming from the Dixon Correctional Center. Of the 17 cases in Lee County outside of the correctional center, one is a teenager, two are in their 20s, four in their 30s, two in their 40s, two in their 50s, four in their 60s, one in their 70s and one in their 80s.

Lee County also had 15 residents lifted from isolation who are now recovered.

The Illinois Department of Corrections reports that 61 inmates at Dixon have tested positive overall, with 30 having recovered. Dixon Correctional Center has also had 47 staff members who have tested positive, with 28 having recovered.

Ogle County announced 52 new cases as well as 105 additional recoveries on Monday, a report which included data from Saturday and Sunday.

Carroll County had 30 new cases of COVID-19 for a period covering Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The new cases involve two children, four teenagers, six people in their 20s, seven in their 30s, three in their 40s, one in their 50s, four in their 60s and three in their 70s.

Whiteside County has had 1,512 cases and 27 deaths. Lee County has had 734 cases, 517 recoveries and one death. Ogle County has had 1,231 cases, 1,058 recoveries and seven deaths. Carroll County has had 430 cases and 14 deaths.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen seven days of positivity increases and four days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate increased from 12.7% to 12.8%. This remains the highest rate of any of the state's 11 regions. Currently, 37% of medical/surgical beds are available and 40% of ICU beds.

After failing to lower its positivity rate below 8%, the North region (Region 1) was moved into the IDPH's tier two mitigation measures Sunday. Among other things, this means gatherings are limited to 10 people and outdoor dining groups are limited to six people instead of 10.

The region's counties that are reporting the highest positivity rates are Boone (15.8%), Winnebago (13.5%), and Whiteside (13.8%). DeKalb County's positivity rate increased from 8.7% to 10.1%.

To get back to the standard Phase 4 restrictions, the region will need to maintain an average positivity rate of less than or equal to 6.5% over a three-day period.

Illinois on Monday announced 4,729 cases and 17 deaths. Statewide there have been 378,985 cases and 9,522 deaths.

Sterling has had 6,132 tests and 505 cases. Rock Falls has had 3,175 tests and 351 cases. Dixon has had 7,407 tests and 475 cases. Rochelle has had 4,934 tests and 593 cases.
