Prep Sports Roundup for Saturday, Oct. 24: Benet boys, girls cross country sweep regional titles

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Class 2A St. Francis Regional

Benet had six of the top nine finishers, led by race winner Louisa Diamond (19:04.1) to breeze to the regional championship at Cantigny Park. Benet (19 points), Nazareth (89), Hinsdale South (108), St. Francis (111) and Fenwick (120) advanced to sectionals.

Rounding out the top five individuals were Benet's Elisabeth Camic (19:09.9), Fenwick's Bella Daley (19:16.6), and Benet's Kelly Andrews (19:34.3) and Joy Jackson (19:35.3).

Class 1A Harvest Christian Regional

IC Catholic Prep had three of the top five individuals to win the regional title with 28 points. Wheaton Academy, third with 89 points, also advanced to sectionals. IC Catholic's Carly Manchester was second in 19:53.37, Kennedy Calcagno was fourth in 20:05.62 and Frankie Chaidez was fifth in 20:06.81.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Class 2A St. Francis Regional

Benet had five of the first 10 finishers to win the regional title at Cantigny Park. Benet (35), St. Francis (53), Fenwick (62), Glenbard South (98) and Hinsdale South (102) advanced its teams to sectionals.

Hinsdale South's Julian Watson (16:00.2) was the race winner, followed by Benet's Niklas Anderson (16:08.0), St. Francis' Luke Orwig (16:44.3), and Fenwick's Zac Daley (16:47.7) and Grayden Rill (17:04.0) in the top five.

Class 1A Harvest Christian Regional

Wheaton Academy, which was fourth with 98 points, and Montini, fifth with 102 points, advanced its teams to sectionals. Montini's Nick Fisch was fifth individually in 16:57.77.
