Peotone man charged with child pornography, jailed on $1 million bond

A Peotone man was arrested on a child pornography charge, jailed on a $1 million bond and police said additional charges are expected in the case.

At 11:43 a.m. Friday, Justin Michael Adams, 34, of the 100 block of North First Street was taken to the Will County jail and booked on a charge of child pornography.

Adams is being held a on $1 million bond and will need to post $100,000 for his release, according to the jail’s website. He is scheduled to appear for a court hearing on his bond at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The investigation of Adams began when Instagram reported an incident regarding child pornography to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in April, according to sheriff spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer.

The nonprofit organization identified Adams as the user of an internet protocol, or IP, address associated with the incident and contacted the sheriff’s office in October, she said.

Detectives from the sheriff's office investigated the case, secured a search warrant and executed the warrant at 6 a.m. Friday at Adams’ home on North First Street, Hoffmeyer said.

Electronics were collected as part of the search and Adams was brought in for questioning, she said.

Adams reportedly made statements implicating himself as using Facebook and Instagram to receive and send child pornography videos and images, she said.

Hoffmeyer said detectives are continuing their investigation of Adams and additional charges are expected.
