15 new COVID-19 cases in Sauk Valley area on Sunday

The Whiteside County Health Department announced seven new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday. The new cases involve four people under the age of 20 as well as people in their 20s, 40s and 50s.

It marks the first time Whiteside County has had a day with fewer than 10 new cases since September 24, when there were nine.

Lee County had eight new cases on Sunday; two people in their 30s as well as one teenager, and people in their 20s, 40s, 50s, 70s and 90s. In addition, six Lee County residents were lifted off of isolation and are recovered.

Ogle and Carroll counties did not report data on Sunday.

Whiteside County has had 879 cases and 21 COVID-related deaths. Lee County has had 428 cases, 320 recoveries and one death. Ogle County has had 811 cases and six deaths. Carroll County has had 254 cases, 220 recoveries and seven deaths.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen six days of positivity increases and four days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate remained flat at 8.7%, the highest rate of any of the state's 11 regions. Currently, 42% of medical/surgical beds are available and 56% of ICU beds.

The North region (Region 1) is under additional COVID-19 mitigation measures from the IDPH as of Saturday.

Illinois announced 1,453 new cases and 17 deaths on Sunday. Statewide there have been 301,541 cases and 8,791 deaths.

Sterling has had 4,089 tests and 304 cases. Rock Falls has had 2,210 tests and 169 cases. Dixon has had 5,658 tests and 306 cases. Rochelle has had 3,928 tests and 406 cases.
