La Salle County coronavirus update: 23 new cases, 535 remain active

Twenty-one new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in La Salle County, increasing the number of active cases to 535, according to information shared Saturday by the La Salle County Health Department.

A girl younger than 13, a teenage boy, three men in their 20s, a woman in her 20s, two men in their 30s, three women in their 30s, two men in their 40s, three women in their 40s, three women in their 50s, a woman in her 60s and a man in his 70s each tested positive for the virus.

There have been 1,595 confirmed cases countywide from 28,013 tests since the beginning of the pandemic, giving the county a 5.7% positivity rate. Of those cases, 1,005 individuals have been removed from isolation and 55 have died from complications related to COVID-19.

During its case investigation, the La Salle County Health Department determined a previous case reported as a La Salle County resident was found to reside outside the county and has been taken off the county's totals.
