Polo man arrested on burglary, firearm charges

POLO – A 28-year-old Polo man with a history of burglary convictions is again facing burglary charges, this time after police say he broke into and stole items from a Polo home.

Devin T. Williams was arrested Tuesday on suspicion that he robbed a South Prairie Avenue residence on Aug. 25, and for unlawfully possessing a firearm, according to a news release from the Polo Police Department.

Investigators Wednesday executed a search warrant on a Rockford residence linked to Williams, discovering property reported stolen from the Polo home, police said.

Williams was charged with one count of residential burglary, which carries a punishment of 4 to 15 years in prison, and a fine of up to $25,000.

He was also charged with two counts of unlawful possession and use of a firearm by a felon. Each count carries a punishment of 2 to 10 years in prison.

Williams in 2010 pleaded guilty to and was convicted of three counts of burglary after a robbery in Carroll County, according to court records.

Records also show Williams in 2014 pleaded guilty to and was convicted of one count of unlawful vehicle invasion in Lee County.

He remains in Ogle County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
