Two employees test positive for COVID-19 at Streator Unlimited

Staff, consumers wait on test results

Employees and affected consumers and their families at Streator Unlimited are awaiting word on COVID-19 test results.

Earlier this week, two employees at the nonprofit agency tested positive, according to officials from the facility.

"We're working with the health department on contact tracing," said Streator Unlimited officials on the agency's Facebook page. "They came out and did a number of tests on residents and employees [Thursday], and we are waiting two to five days for results. We'll also have some results coming in from employees who went on their own for testing earlier in the week."

The agency said it is continuing with disease prevention practices.

"Needless to say, things are hectic and worrisome," Streator Unlimited officials said in their statement. "Anyone directly impacted has been and will continue to be informed. We have been and will continue to do all we can to keep the people we serve healthy and safe."

Streator Unlimited provides services for adults with disabilities.

The agency is one of five open cases in La Salle County at long-term care facilities identified Friday by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Other cases include Heritage Health Mendota, Ottawa Pavilion, the La Salle County Nursing Home and the Illinois Veterans Home at La Salle.
