Fire renders Lakemoor home uninhabitable

A house fire Thursday in Lakemoor resulted in no injuries but caused an estimated $200,000 in damage and left the home uninhabitable, fire officials say.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District was called at 1 p.m. Thursday to a structure fire in the 900 block of South Lily Lake Road, according to a news release. Firefighters arrived within five minutes and found a two-story home with fire coming from the rear and heavy smoke throughout the house, according to the release.

The blaze was under control in about 30 minutes, according to the release. The rear of first floor sustained extensive damage, according to the release.

Several outside agencies assisted on the scene, including Wauconda, Nunda Township, Spring Grove, Antioch and Wonder Lake fire departments., according to the release. A total of 42 firefighters responded.

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District continues to investigate the cause of the fire.
