UPDATE: Power outages, wires down after storm

Power outages have been reported following severe storms that tore through La Salle and Bureau counties.

Tornado sirens were reportedly activated in towns including Ottawa, La Salle, Spring Valley, Dalzell, Oglesby, Mendota and Peru shortly after 8:30 p.m.

Winds reaching more than 50 mph were reported with these storms. Storms are expected to move out of the area around 10 p.m.

Multiple wires are down in Bureau County and emergency personnel urge motorists to drive with caution.

According to Corn Belt Energy, approximately 883 co-op members are without power in the following counties: Bureau, Henry, Knox, La Salle, McLean, Putnam, Tazewell, and Woodford. Crews have been dispatched to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. Residents on Ottawa's South Side also reported a power outage.
