Michigan motorist nabbed with 25 pounds of suspected meth

Drug team said street value ranged from $300K to $1M

A Michigan woman faces a mandatory trip to prison if convicted of hauling 25 pounds of methamphetamine, the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team said in a Friday press release.

Lakieesha Renee York, 33, of Detroit, Mich., was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver at 10:49 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 80, 5 miles east of Princeton, police said. The charge is a Class X felony carrying 6-30 years.

During the stop, a Tri-DENT K-9 unit alerted to narcotics and agents discovered in the rear interior panel 13 vacuum-sealed packages containing about 25 pounds of purported methamphetamine, police said.

Police said the contraband has an approximate street value of $300,000 to $1,000,000, depending on the method of distribution.
