Grundy County nonprofits are the beneficiaries of a grant of $75,000 from the Illinois Covid-19 Relief Fund, a project of the United Way of Illinois, the Alliance of Illinois Community Foundations, and the Office of the Illinois Governor.
After an application process, 17 area nonprofits have been selected to receive a portion of the $75,000 to assist Grundy residents who have been affected by the pandemic. Grant amounts range from $1,000 to $19,000 and will allow the agencies to provide relief to residents in the areas of: rent and mortgage assistance; diapers and formula; utilities (gas, electric, water, garbage, sewer fees); groceries; Personal Protective Equipment and supplies; and technology; plus general community outreach and education so that residents are aware of services available, especially during this pandemic.
ICRF Grundy County grant recipients include: Breaking Away, Easterseals Jump Start, Farmworker & Landscaper Advocacy Project, Grundy County Health Department, Grundy County Heroes & Helpers, Grundy County Housing Authority, Grundy-Three Rivers Habitat for Humanity, Illinois Valley Industries, Joliet Area Community Hospice, Kendall County Health Department (Kendall-Grundy Community Action), Mazon Township, Reclaim3d Inc., Veterans Assistance Commission of Grundy County, Village of Coal City, Village of Mazon, Village of Minooka, and We Care of Grundy County.
