Music historian Gary Wenstrup to trace history of Motown

Lecture will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Public Library

ST. CHARLES – Celebrate Black History Month with a musical journey to the Motor City.

Music historian Gary Wenstrup will trace the musical journey of Motown Records during a lecture at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Charles Public Library.

In Detroit in the 1960s, Motown Records produced hits as efficiently as the Ford Motor Company produced automobiles—110 Top Ten singles to be exact from influential musicians such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder.

Wenstrup, an adjunct professor at the College of DuPage and Triton College, specializes in lectures on The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel and Paul Simon and uses audio and visual content during his presentation.

Registration is recommended for this program. Sign up at the library's reference desk, by calling 630-584-0076, ext. 1, or online at scpld.org.

The St. Charles Public Library is located at One South Sixth Avenue in St. Charles.
