A man was sentenced to eight years behind bars for sexually assaulting a child for several months, the McHenry County state’s attorney said on Monday.
Thirty-seven-year-old Lorentino Martinez-Tejeda, formerly of McHenry, pleaded guilty of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child who was younger than 13 years old. The assaults occurred from November 2017 to August 2018, authorities said. Prosecutors didn't disclose how Martinez-Tejeda knew this child, the child's gender, or where the abuse occurred.
McHenry County Judge Robert Wilbrandt also sentenced Martinez-Tejeda on Dec. 20 to a term of three years to natural life of mandatory supervised release, which will kick in after his prison term.
He must serve 85% of his sentence with no day-for-day credit. Upon release, Martinez-Tejeda will have to register as a lifetime sex offender.
This case was investigated by Sgt. Nicholas R. Clesen and Detective Brett Kinney of the McHenry Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Sharyl Eisenstein.
