Roundup: Newark's Rick Tollefson gets 300th career win

Freshman Mia Moore scores 19 points for Oswego in win at Lake Park

BOYS BASKETBALL

Newark

Nate Christian scored 20 points, and Newark beat Dwight 62-52 for head coach Rick Tollefson's 300th career win. Jared Slivka added 11 points and Tanner Kunkel had 12 rebounds. Jacob Chapman had nine points and five steals.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Oswego

Freshman guard Mia Moore scored 19 points, Angelina Schlinger 18 and Jenelle Rogers 15 for the Panthers in a 67-58 win at Lake Park. Oswego (4-2) overcame a 43-point effort from Lake Park's Darrione Rogers, a DePaul recruit. Oswego trailed 16-7 after the first quarter, but scored the first 11 points of the second to lead 27-24 at half.

Newark

Meggie Scott had 25 points, 12 steals and 10 assists and Jocelyn Mitchell had 20 points and seven steals to lead the Norsemen past Dwight 87-40 on Wednesday. Kaitlyn Hatteberg added 14 points and six rebounds for Newark (5-2, 1-0).

WRESTLING

Sandwich

Sandwich beat Somonauk 59-18 and lost to Ottawa 53-21 on Tuesday. Anthony Sparti (106), Aidan Linden (138) and Jackson Murphy (170) had pins against Ottawa. Evan Reilly (126), Braulio Flores (132), Eddie Brown (160) and Murphy (170) had pins against Somonauk.
