Althoff Industries: Your heating, cooling, plumbing, and electrical experts for home and business

When Jim Althoff founded Althoff Industries in 1961, he concentrated on heating and air-conditioning services. Through the ensuing years Althoff added plumbing and electrical services to the company’s offerings. What started as a residential firm, grew to provide commercial and industrial customers the same types of services.

The family business, owned by Tod Althoff and Tom Les, also includes family members Patti Althoff-Siwicki and Megan Althoff. Originally opened in McHenry, Illinois, Althoff Industries moved to its current location in Crystal Lake in 1989.

“The company’s culture has always been to provide its clients with high quality solutions and customer service,” says Blake Wiltshire, Althoff Industries director of residential services. “Jim Althoff always said that the company’s reputation was most important, which means the customer must always come first.”

Althoff Industries prides itself on its responsible approach to customer service. “No business is perfect,” says Wiltshire. “Equipment will fail. Things will happen. For Althoff Industries, it is how our company responds when things go wrong that separates us from our competition. Each employee is empowered to act with a sense of urgency, resourcefulness and, if necessary, creativity to not only resolve the problem quickly but also to exceed the customer’s expectations. For most companies the largest celebrations come from big sales. At Althoff Industries a successful customer resolution is much more revered.”

Without question, Althoff believes the reason it has been so successful for more than a half century is because of its total dedication to customer satisfaction. “Every employee is empowered to, above all else, take care of the client,” says Wiltshire.

Wiltshire also says he believes its location in the Fox River Valley is ideal.
