Autumn events and things to do in Geneva, Batavia and St. Charles

Fall fun continues in October and into November

Whether you’re looking for thrills and chills, or hayrides and pumpkins, we have all the great fall treats! So grab your calendar and take a peek for great fall things to do in Batavia, Geneva and St. Charles!

Halloween Hayday

10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26

Stephen D. Persinger Recreation Center, 3507 Kaneville Road, Geneva

Advance registration $5, and non residents $8; day of $7 and $10 non residents; free for adults

This spooking celebration is a great way for young ones to enjoy the festivities with bounce house, hay rides, science activities and crafts too. Be sure to look your best for the costume contest. Check out the games from 10 a.m. to noon and be sure to watch the magician perform at 12:15 p.m.

BatFest

Saturday, Oct. 26

10 a.m.-2 p.m., downtown Batavia Riverwalk, Peg Bond Pavilion

This annual festival is sure to delight all ages. There is trick-or-treating, a Mothers Club Parade and plenty of contests for humans and pets too. Shop the harvest at the final outdoors Farmers Market of the season. Enjoy tasty treats. Dress up for the Halloween Costume Contest or better or if you like, enter your pet in the Pet Costume Contest. There will be live entertainment featuring music and local dance groups. Test your strength and luck in fun contests including a pumpkin roll and marshmallow shooting. Carve a pumpkin or join in on the sing-along too.

Windy Acres Farm Fall Festival

9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Oct. 31

Windy Acres Farm, 37W446 Fabyan Pkwy, Geneva

Local open air Farm Stand with homegrown produce, raw honey, Amish jams, mums, pick your own pumpkins, giant activity festival, weekend beer garden, live music on weekends, caramel apples, apple cider donuts, bakery, wagon rides, kiddie train ride, jumping pillow, moonbounces, petting zoo and more. Fun for the whole family! Farm stand entry is free. Admission fee for festival entry. Open to the public. School field trips, group packages and party options also available. Price: $10-14

Howl O’Ween Dog Parade

1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26

Peck Farm Peck, 4038 Kaneville Road, Geneva

Free

From wacky to scary and creative too there will be costumes for pups of all shapes and sizes at Peck Farm. Be sure to arrive early to line up in the courtyard and lead your dog on a stroll before the judges. There will be awards for top costumes in several categories.

The Great Pumpkin Bowl

1-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4

Pottawatomie Park, 8 North Ave., St Charles

$5 per person

Pack up those leftover pumpkins and join the fun at Pottawatomie Park where participants roll their pumpkins down the hill at oversized bowling pins. Smash and crash those pumpkins into pieces. Warm up with warm apple cider. Proceeds from the event support STC Underground.
