Mildred ‘Millie’ Unger

SPRINGFIELD – Mildred (Millie) Unger, 84, of Springfield passed on Wednesday, August 14, 2019.

Millie was born on Feb. 19, 1935, and lived 82 years of her life in Sterling and Rock Falls. She was the youngest daughter of John and Myrtle Seidel. Millie began her career as a homemaker lovingly caring for her family. Her passion was cooking and baking for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies were collecting turtles, recipes and watching Westerns on TV. Later in life, Millie enjoyed working at J.C. Penny in Sterling, and retired after 25 years. Her final career move was to volunteer in the “Grandparent program” for Dillon School for 10 years. Millie’s family have wonderful memories and will miss her dearly.

Preceded in death by five siblings, John Seidel Jr, Dorothy Nehrkorn, Marjory Townsend, Helen Deets, Florence Leach; husband, Doug Unger; two sons, Mike Yeoward and Jerry Yeoward; one grandson, Todd Cox. She was surrounded in life by her family, five children, Mike Yeoward, Louann  Cox, Jerry Yeoward, Betty Yeoward and Linda Wypasek; nine grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

There will be a Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019, at 2209 Redlands Dr, Springfield, IL.
