Police: Wilmington man threatened to sodomize woman, kill children

A Wilmington man was arrested on charges alleging he threatened to sodomize a woman and kill her children, as well as battering a girlfriend, authorities said.

On Dec. 27, Nicholas Sansone, 25, of the 300 block of Canal Street made threats of physical and sexual harm over the phone to a 38-year-old woman, Wilmington Police Chief Phillip Arnold said in an email.

Sansone threatened to sodomize the woman and kill her children, Arnold said.

A detective investigated the incident and evidence from the investigation was presented to a grand jury that led to Sansone’s indictment on misdemeanor charges of phone harassment and disorderly conduct, Arnold said.

On March 4, Will County Judge Fred Harvey signed a warrant for Sansone’s arrest, according to court records. However, Sansone was missing, Arnold said.

About 10 a.m. Saturday, deputies were called to the Walona Motel on East Lincoln Highway in New Lenox Township after receiving a 911 call, Kathy Hoffmeyer, spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office, said in an email.

Deputies spoke with a 24-year-old woman who was upset but refused to cooperate, Hoffmeyer said, and Sansone claimed there had been no physical abuse.

Deputies were called out to the motel again and saw the furniture in disarray and noticed injuries to the girlfriend, Hoffmeyer said, and Sansone was arrested on a charge of domestic battery.
