Former Kane County prosecutor to run for Kane County State's Attorney

ST. CHARLES – Former Kane County prosecutor Jamie Mosser on Thursday will formally announce her candidacy for Kane County State's Attorney.

“I have always had a strong commitment to helping my community and working as a prosecutor allowed me to follow that passion,” Mosser said in a news release. “I am, and have always been, a prosecutor at heart and I am looking forward to running for Kane County State’s Attorney.”

Mosser plans to make the announcement during an event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Wine Exchange, 1 Illinois St. in downtown St. Charles. The public is invited.

She joined the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office as an assistant state’s attorney in the domestic violence unit. During her 10 years at the KCSAO, Mosser was an assistant in the felony and special prosecution units, ultimately becoming head of the domestic violence unit. In 2015, she left to start a private law practice focusing on family, criminal, and real estate law.

“We will apply for grants to hire more staff and bring back the Victim’s Rights Unit,” Mosser said, in talking about her goals if elected. “We will better train and mentor our prosecutors to retain skilled attorneys. We will be more visible in the community by offering programs to addressing the opioid epidemic, domestic violence, and gang violence. We will work with the Kane County Board and all county officials in a continuing spirit of open communication and transparency. Put more simply, we will do more for Kane County.”

Mosser lives in Campton Hills with her husband, Jameson Eisenmenger, and three children.

Kane County State's Attorney Joe McMahon has not formally announced whether he is running for reelection. He was first appointed to the post in 2010 and was elected in 2012 and 2016.
