BREAKING: Capitano Deli & Sweets closes, but re-opening planned after restructuring

A downtown Yorkvlle eatery, Capitano Deli & Sweets, has closed.

The decision was announced in a post to their Facebook page made Monday, April 8 that reads; "Everyone at Capitano Deli & Sweets would like to thank the Yorkville community for giving us a great run. It saddens us to say that we are now closed, but the deli will be making a comeback very soon under new management. Please look for grand re-opening date, and stay tuned for a deli revamp. Thank you again for everything."

Located at 220 S. Bridge St., Capitano opened for business in June 2018 under the ownership of Yorkville residents B.J. and Lyneen Gerl. Capitano also features a sweets shop called Piccolo & Dolce, selling old-fashioned candies and stuffed animals.

More information will be provided when it becomes available.
