Police say they have arrested a Chicago man after he made a social media post that said anyone working at the Home Depot warehouse in Joliet should leave, because he was going to blow it up, police said.
About 2 p.m. Jan. 11, officers responded to the Home Depot warehouse at 2950 Centerpoint Way in Joliet after receiving a report of a “perceived threat of someone who wanted to blow up the building,” Joliet police Sgt. Christopher Botzum said.
Officers reportedly became aware of a social media post where someone made a comment saying anyone working at the warehouse should “get out of the building because the individual was going to blow it up,” Botzum said.
Officers were able to determine that Joseph L. Young, 23, of the 9000 block of South Carpenter Street, Chicago, was suspected to be the person responsible for the threat.
A warrant was issued for Young’s arrest Feb. 13. Will County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Young on Wednesday.
About 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, he was taken to the Will County jail, where he was held on a $1,000 bond.
He was released at 12:04 p.m. the same day, after he was able to post 10 percent of his bond.
Young faces a charge of disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor charge, which is punishable by up to 30 days in jail or a fine of up to $1,500.
