WYANET — Richard A. Kunkel, 91, of Wyanet passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, in his home.
Born May 13, 1927, in Spring Valley to August and Teresa (Blume) Kunkel, he married Mary Rohr March 29, 1952, in Sacred Heart Church in Granville. She survives.
He was a class of 1945 graduate of St. Bede Academy. He had served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He farmed his entire life.
He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton and the Knights of Columbus.
Also surviving are his children, Julie Wineinger of Davis, Calif., Gerard (Jeanine) Kunkel of Wyanet and Teresa (Kevin) Kopp of Wyanet; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and his brothers and sister, Lawrence “Mick” Kunkel of Princeton, Joseph Kunkel of Wyanet, Eugene (Joan) Kunkel of Granville, Christopher (Sharon) Kunkel of Peru and Sister Teresa Kunkel,O.S.F., of Clinton, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, in the St. Louis Catholic Church in Princeton with Father Daniel Gifford and Deacon John Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Tiskilwa, with military honors by the Princeton Veteran’s Memorial Group. His family will receive friends from 9 a.m.until the time of services Tuesday in the church.
Arrangements are through the Fiocchi-Jensen Funeral Home in Princeton.
