McHenry’s newest restaurant has pushed back its opening, the owners said Friday.
Jexal’s “Wing-Zeria” plans to open next week, but not Monday, as previously stated, co-owner Mike Dumelle said.
The restaurant had plans to hold training for its employees Friday and Saturday, Dumelle said.
On Sunday, the restaurant will remain closed.
“We will be closed to recap with our team, let them rest a bit, and based on feedback and such, we as a team will determine and post the exact opening day next week,” Dumelle said.
Delivery services won’t begin until January, he said.
The casual eatery originally planned to open Monday.
“It is more important to open right versus quickly,” Dumelle said.
Dumelle and co-owner Joel Lopez-Gomez first went before the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission with the plan to construct a 4,700-square-foot restaurant on a vacant parcel at 1266 N. Green St. in April.
The property formerly housed a wings and pizza restaurant that burned down in 2006.
