Police: Man, woman die in car crash on Archer Avenue

A man and a woman died Sunday night after their vehicles reportedly crashed into each other on Archer Avenue, south of 135th Street, police said.

Illinois State Police responded to the fatal crash at 9:26 pm. Sunday in Homer Township, according to a state police news release.

Preliminary investigation showed a 1999 Porsche Boxster, which Arunas Augustaitis, 62, of Elk Grove Village, was driving, was traveling northeast on Archer Avenue when it crossed into the southbound lanes and struck a 1997 Toyota Tercel head on, police said.

Augustaitis was taken to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Jennifer Balice, 36, of Lemont, was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash.

Illinois State Police continued to investigate the crash’s cause Monday.
