An new indoor play space for children is coming to Algonquin.
Kinderland Indoor Playground & Cafe, 2791 W. Algonquin Road, Unit 17, soon will be open for business.
The play place will include a café and space for birthday parties or special events. Gorana Trifunov will run and manage the business.
“I wanted a nice place for kids and for myself,” said Trifunov, a mother of four young children. “It took us a long time to get here.”
Trifunov, a Serbian immigrant, said her business will open in the coming weeks, but she does not have a firm opening date or final admission prices figured out.
She said she’ll offer European sweets, milkshakes and paninis to patrons.
“It’s a little indoor play area with a coffee shop,” said Russ Farnum, the village’s economic development director.
Parents can take their children to play on the indoor playground, while the adults enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, Farnum said.
Farnum said he believes “it’s a great concept, and if [Trifunov] does the right marketing, it will catch on.”
He said there’s no place like it in the village.
“I’m very excited for her,” Farnum said.
The Winding Creek strip mall that will house the establishment “has a whole bunch of businesses opening,” Farnum said, pointing to the new Kaya Martial Arts gym and an upcoming spa.
“It’s really exciting to see what’s happening there,” he said.
