Richard A. (Rick) Mount, 63, died on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018 of natural causes at his home in Deltona, Florida.
Rick was born on Dec. 20, 1954 in Dixon, the second child of Russell and Louise Mount.
He attended and graduated from the Polo public schools. He graduated from Bradley University with an engineering degree and worked many years at Mount Plumbing and Heating in Polo.
Rick married Sandy Scudder on Nov. 29, 1980 in Polo. They lived in Polo with daughter, Kelly and son, Shaun.
In 1988 they moved to Deltona, Florida, where Rick continued his plumbing career. He retired in 2014.
Rick enjoyed his family, riding his motorcycle, and farming on his small acreage in Polo.
Rick and Sandy divorced in 2000 but still maintained close familial relationships including five grandchildren, whom he cherished.
Surviving family include his sister, Carol (Dewayne) Hartle, of Sarasota, Florida; and brother, Tim (Robin) Mount, Village of Lakewood; his aunt, Sharon Gricius, Lakeland, Florida; ex-wife, Sandy Mount, of DeLand, Florida; stepson, Shaun Scudder, of DeLand, Florida; stepsisters, Lisa (James) Olmsted, of Verona, Wisconsin, and Andrea Schelb, of Mt. Dora, Florida; stepbrother, Scott (Cynthia) Reed, Sycamore; grandchildren, Logan Sweeting, at Holloman Air Force Base in Otero, New Mexico, Travis Sweeting, DeLand, Florida, and Kaylee Sweeting, of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Ashley Scudder, of High Springs, Florida; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Brittany and Shelly Sweeting, of New Mexico; five nieces and nephews, Trent (Jill) Hartle, of Seattle, Washington, Cherie (Jeff) Vajdik, of Bradenton, Florida, Brecken (Kyle) Haak, of Stillman Valley, Paige (Scott) Sidlo, of Crystal Lake, and Trevor Mount, of Huntley.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Elaine; and stepdaughter, Kelly Scudder.
Rick requested to be cremated with no burial or memorial.
He was a kind and gentle soul who will be greatly missed by family and friends.
