ROCK FALLS – Before Gail Nusbaum died, he got to see his son, Eddie, fulfill a lifelong dream of opening a bar. He even helped him scout locations for the watering hole that would be named after his son, Fast Eddie’z.

Now, Eddie is returning the favor. He’s opening a second bar, and the name is a nod to his dad.

The sign is up at 315 First Ave. and work is underway at Hammer Headz for a late August opening.

The name comes from a greeting Gail used when he’d see his sons.

“Eddie’s father used to greet him and his brother Arnie with, ‘What are you hammer heads up to?’” Eddie’s wife, Cindy, said. Gail died Jan. 13.

The new bar is located where Cindy’s business, Cynergy Salon, used to be. Cindy moved her shop into the downstairs portion of the building where Fast Eddie’z is located, at 611 First Ave., when it opened in March 2017

Hammer Headz will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily and offer domestic and imported beer, wines and mixed drinks. It also will features five slots, a juke box, a bowling game and a seating area with a TV and a fireplace.
