St. Margaret’s Auxiliary scholarships are awarded

SPRING VALLEY — The St. Margaret’s Auxiliary recently awarded two $1,000 scholarships to area students who have been accepted into or who are currently enrolled in a health care professional curriculum.

Recipients of this year’s scholarships include:

Deanna Derix currently works for St. Margaret’s at the Valley Orthopedics & Sports Medicine clinic in Spring Valley, where she has been employed since 2011. Deanna is a 1999 graduate of Hall High School and lives in Spring Valley with her son, Michael. She is attending Chamberlain College of Nursing, where she will pursue a bachelor in nursing degree and continue to work at St. Margaret’s.

Kaelyn Condon is a recent graduate of St. Bede Academy, where she was salutatorian. She will be attending Illinois State University’s Mennonite College of Nursing in the fall. Kaelyn will work towards becoming a nurse practitioner, specializing in the treatment of mentally disabled individuals. She is currently a volunteer at St. Margaret’s and resides in Spring Valley with her parents, Michael and Christy.
