DUI, cannabis charges
Oswego police arrested Aaron J. Veach, 24, of the 0-10 block of Circle Court, Boulder Hill, and Shannon T. Magiera, 22, of the 100 block of Lee Street, Plano, after stopping their vehicle on Jefferson Street at Madison Street in the village’s downtown July 14 at 2:32 a.m. Police said Veach was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of 10-30 grams of cannabis. Magiera was charged with possession of 10-30 grams of cannabis. Court proceedings for the two suspects are pending, according to police.
Merchandise stolen
Merchandise valued at $93.27 was stolen from a store in the 2700 block of Route 34 at 9:30 p.m. July 13, Oswego police reported.
Damaged car at sports bar
An Aurora resident told Oswego police that his vehicle was damaged while it was parked overnight outside a sports bar on Douglas Road in the village July 14.
Deceptive practice report
Oswego police took a report of a deceptive practice at a store in the 2300 block of Route 34 at 11:35 p.m. July 16.
Fight under investigation
Oswego police are investigating a fight that occurred at the Oswegoland Civic Center on Ashlawn Avenue at 3:30 p.m. July 13. Police said a juvenile was hurt in the incident, but was not taken to the hospital.
Mailbox damaged
An estimated $40 in damage was done to a mailbox in front of a home in the 60 block of Oaklawn Avenue, according to Oswego police.
Theft report
Oswego police took a report of a theft that occurred in the 3000 block of Route 34 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. July 11.
Investigate domestic
Oswego police are investigating a domestic battery reported to have occurred at a home in the 300 block of Chicago Road at 9:42 a.m. July 12. Police said the victim was not hurt.
Credit card stolen
Oswego police are investigating the theft of a credit card from a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Monroe Street on July 10. Police said the stolen credit card was later used.
Domestic battery arrest
Oswego police arrested Genoveva Ramirez, 48, of the 300 block of Century Drive, Oswego, on a charge of domestic battery on Chicago Road at Grant Street at 6:50 p.m. July 10. Police said a 46-year-old woman was hurt, but was not taken to an area hospital.
Cited in crash
Oswego police cited Ashley McGuire, 25, of Seneca with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after the vehicle she was driving was involved in a crash on Route 34 at Orchard Road on July 11. Police said no one was hurt.
Vehicle found damaged
Oswego police took a report of a window being damaged on a vehicle parked on Paradise Parkway near Terrace Lane at 5:15 p.m. July 10.
One injured in Madison St. crash
An Oswego resident, Kathryn M. DeAngelis, 40, was injured in a three-vehicle crash on Madison Street near Wilson Place at 9:49 a.m. July 11, village police reported. Police said DeAngelis was taken to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, while the drivers of the other vehicles involved, Margaret R. Draksler, 20, of Oswego and Daniel A. Cherry, 55, of Yorkville, were not hurt.
Vehicle burglary reported
Oswego police were notified of a vehicle burglary that occurred late July 9 or early July 10 in the 300 block of Forest Avenue. Police said a neighbor later found some of the stolen items. The value of the items taken was estimated at $250, according to police.
