Yorkville School District 115 has announced the hiring of Elisa Maldonado as principal at Autumn Creek Elementary School.

Maldonado's contract with the district will begin on July 1.

The District 115 Board of Education approved the hire at its May 21 meeting. Maldonado's first official day at ACES will be on Aug. 1. She will assume the principal position from Mayra Johnson who has served as the Autumn Creek principal since 2014.

Maldonado's annual salary will be $82,500, plus benefits, according to information provided by the district.

"Elisa Maldonado's multifaceted approach to serving her school community makes her a valued addition to our administration," said District 115 Superintendent Dr. Timothy Shimp. "She has extensive experience in elementary education, her bilingual expertise is of great value in serving our Spanish-speaking and Dual Language students, and she is skilled at involving and communicating with teachers, students and parents."

"I am extremely excited and honored to be chosen as the next leader of Autumn Creek Elementary School," Maldonado said. "I look forward to meeting and building relationships with the students, staff and families as well as continuing the great work that has already been done."

Maldonado has seven years of building leadership experience in elementary education, serving as an assistant principal and principal in schools in Illinois and Minnesota.

Born and raised in Chicago, Maldonado received her bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Illinois. She earned both her master's degree in administration and leadership and a Certificate in Advanced Study in curriculum and instruction (bilingual education emphasis) from National-Lewis University in Chicago.
