Police: Burglary suspect nabbed, accomplice sought

JOLIET – Joliet police said they have arrested one suspect and are searching for another involved in a burglary at Joliet Discount Zone.

Terrence Pierce, 30, of the 200 block of South Raynor Avenue was one of two suspects who allegedly stole numerous packs of cigarettes, cigars and cash Jan. 8 from Joliet Discount Zone.

Police still are searching for a female accomplice who also was involved in the break-in at the 136 E. Cass St. store.

The burglary was captured on video, police said. The video shows Pierce and his female companion entering the store after a large item allegedly was hurled by Pierce through the front window so they could get inside, police said.

Pierce was arrested Wednesday afternoon at an apartment in the 100 block of Arch Court.

Pierce was charged with criminal damage to property and burglary. He was booked into the Will County jail.

Pierce also was arrested on a Grundy County warrant for unrelated charges of causing a child to be endangered and possession of cannabis.

Pierce appeared in court Thursday afternoon and his total bond on the assorted charges was set at $96,000.
