Roundup: Burlington Central volleyball clinches Kishwaukee River Conference title

Madison Leone had 13 kills, six digs and an ace and the Rockets beat Johnsburg 25-22, 14-25, 25-13 on Oct. 19 to clinch the Kishwaukee River Conference championship.

Maddie Lenschow added six kills, eight digs and three aces, Brittany Parks two kills, 11 assists, 10 digs and three blocks, Gabby Soto 13 assists and nine digs, Katie Lomas seven digs and Kathryn Schmidt three kills and three blocks for Burlington Central (21-14, 11-1).

The Rockets (5-4) beat Harvard 49-14 on Oct. 20 to become playoff-eligible, but missed the playoff cut when pairings were released on Oct. 21.

TENNIS

Kaneland

Kaneland's Madie Jurasek and Piper Schrepferman both reached the third round of the Class 1A state tournament held Oct. 19-21.

Jurasek beat Carbonale's Sophie DiBiase and North Shore Country Day's Cara Savin in straight sets, then lost her third match to Wauconda's Sarah Hackman. Jurasek went 1-1 in the back draw.

Schrepferman beat Rock Island Alleman's Lilly Schoeck and Taylor Fleming in straight sets. She lost a third-round set to Northside's Nicole Roc, and went 1-1 in the back draw.

Kaneland's doubles team of Haley Plach and Ingrid Napiorkowski went 0-2.
