Christ Community Church welcomes community to new location

DeKALB – Christ Community Church is marking the grand opening of its new DeKalb campus building by hosting Harvest Fest, a communitywide celebration.

Harvest Fest will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Christ Community’s new campus located at 2350 Pride Ave., off Dresser Road, east of DeKalb High School. The event is free with food available for purchase from several local food trucks and vendors.

The festivities will include inflatable bounce houses, a petting zoo, carnival-style games, face painting, pony rides, an area of games and an inflatable specifically for younger children.

In addition, Harvest Fest will feature live music, a rock-climbing wall and chances to win one of several door prizes donated by area merchants.

Harvest Fest will lead up to the church’s services at 5:10 p.m. Saturday and at 9:10 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. Sunday. All are welcome.

Food trucks will stay open until 5 p.m. Saturday for guests to attend Harvest Fest, grab dinner and attend the service.

Before moving into the new facility in September, the DeKalb campus of Christ Community held services in the old Farm & Fleet building on Route 38 for 13 years. Christ Community originally was founded in St. Charles in 1984 and now sees more than 5,000 weekend attendees across four campuses throughout the western suburbs.

The local campus has been a part of the DeKalb community since 2004; church leaders hope the new location will position them to better serve and provide greater outreach within the community.
