DECATUR - Two years after shooting five people - one fatally - in a Decatur nightclub, a Joliet man has pleaded guilty.
Jevon E. Barber, 20, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of second-degree murder in exchange for a 20-year prison sentence, according to the Macon County Circuit Clerk's office.
Early on May 25, 2015, Barber was attending a rap concert at Club Maxey, 1816 N. Water St., when a confrontation broke out between two groups of patrons, police said. Barber shot Mishari Holbrook, 28, of Decatur, multiple times and fled. Four other people suffered non-life-threatening wounds.
Decatur police identified Barber as a person of interest and Joliet police located him the following evening at a residence in the 800 block of Elizabeth Street and took him into custody.
