WALNUT – Leslie Renner, 85, of Walnut, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
Leslie was born Sept. 10, 1931, in Walnut, the son of Harry Lee and Maude (Stickle) Renner. He married Charlene Hill Dec. 21, 1952, in Walnut.
Les was an entrepreneur, a sales executive, and a business leader. In his career, he worked with Gonigam Bass Hill, Trus Joist Corp., Lam Fab, his own business, and his last was acting CEO at Walnut Custom Components. He had a passion for music all his life, and served many roles in his community as choir director, musician, and producer. He loved his family, faith, golf, travel, and had an especially contagious sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene of Walnut; his daughter, Nancy (Bruce) Clear of Indianapolis; four sons, Gregg (Pam) Renner of St. Louis, Brad (Lisa) Renner of Germantown, New York, Russell (Diane) Renner of Morrison, and Rod (Deron Boyles) Renner of Roswell, Georgia; two sisters, Shirley Creager and Phyllis Warner, both of Florida; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dale Renner; and three sisters, Verle Tracy, Eleanor Sidebottom, and Gladys Gettle.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Garland Funeral Home in Walnut. The memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Walnut United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mark Harkness officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
