Kjelden Breidenbach of Sycamore attended Interlochen Arts Camp, a summer arts program for aspiring artists.
Breidenbach, the son of Bob and Julie Breidenbach, studied cello and orchestral performance for seven weeks at the camp. As a member of the World Youth Symphony Orchestra, he worked with many distinguished conductors such as Jung-Ho Pak and Carlos Kalmar.
Breidenbach is a junior at Sycamore High School. He studies cello with Linc Smelser and is a member of Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra and Sinfonia at Northern Illinois University. He also is a member of the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Music Institute.
EYSO awarded Breidenbach the Robert Hanson Award for the 2015-16 season. In February, he was selected to participate in the Chicago Youth in Music Festival at Orchestra Hall in Chicago. Breidenbach is a member of the Chamber Orchestra at Sycamore High School, was named to the ILMEA Orchestra, and was selected to the All-State Music Festival.
Interlochen attracts students, faculty and staff from all 50 states and more than 40 countries. These 2,500 artists fill Interlochen’s campus with an explosion of creativity. Student-artists learn from world-class instructors and produce hundreds of presentations in dance, theatre, creative writing, visual arts, music and film.
