A representative of 9er's Grill told the Montgomery Village Board Monday evening the restaurant may open next month.
"We are shooting to open in September but that is to be determined. We've had some setbacks along the way, but hopefully we will be open sooner rather than later," the representative said.
He added that he and other 9er's Grill officials believe the Montgomery restaurant is ideally located to be successful. The restaurant chain currently operates five restaurants in Texas.
In Montgomery, 9er's grill will open in the former Applebee's restaurant on Route 30, just east of Douglas Road.
"We are definitely confident we have a great location here and Montgomery is place that we can start making a name for ourselves," the representative said.
Village board members did their part to expedite the opening of the restaurant by voicing unanimous support for approving its request for a liquor license.
The representative emphasized that 9er's Grill is a family-oriented restaurant chain and a full bar that was once located in the former Applebee's has been removed.
"We are not looking to serve a full line of drinks, but we are looking to serve beer with a hamburger or a nice merlot with a steak," he said.
Restaurant hours will be from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursdays and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, the representative said.
9er's Grill liquor license request will be subject to a final vote of approval by the board.
