McHENRY – It's been almost two weeks now since Epic Deli relocated to McHenry, but that hasn't stopped hungry customers from finding the new place.

General Manager Tyler Wildey said business has been extremely busy since they reopened and there has even been a line of people out the door on occasions.

“It’s been busier than we’ve ever been, that’s for sure,” Wildey said.

The deli announced last month via Facebook that it would close its doors on June 5 and would be reopening in McHenry at a brand-new venue. After closing shop for about three weeks, the popular deli reopened at its new McHenry home, 2616 Schaid Court, on July 1.

Epic Deli originally opened in 2011 at 3312 N. Chapel Hill Road in Johnsburg, near the Fox River. Wildey said the main reason they decided to finally change venues was because of Johnsburg's well water.

“[At the Johnsburg location] we had a lot of issues with the well water to the point where there were multiple times we had to close,” Wildey said.

Wildey said some issues included having no running water at times and pipes exploding. Now, Wildey said, the new location uses public water, so he’s happy to not have to deal with those water problems anymore.

He also added that this new space has more room and they got to design the layout the way they desired.

“It’s a lot more space,” Wildey said. “We got to set it up the way that we wanted to. It’s very nice.”

Epic Deli has brought over the same unique menu from before the move, featuring menu items such as the Viking Quest, a foot-long sub with seven different meats, and deep-fried candy bars for dessert.

Epic Deli is currently hiring, and Wildey said interested candidates can stop by the deli and grab an application.

Epic Deli is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays, according to the deli’s Facebook page.
