Austin Kline, a Hinsdale resident and 2014 Montini High School graduate, had one of his best baseball seasons ever this spring.

Kline and his teammates on the Brunswick (Leland, N.C.) Community College team won the title at the National Junior College Athletic Association Southeastern regional for a spot at the NJCAA World Series. The Dolphins finished sixth. For the season Kline, a redshirt freshman, batted .242 and earned a 4.0 GPA.

The Dolphins' berth in the NJCAA world series meant that Kline was late reporting for duty with the Windy Hill Whales of the Beach Collegiate Baseball League, a college-level squad based in Myrtle Beach, S.C., that plays with wood bats over the summer. In his second season with the Whales, Kline played in 16 games, hit .333 and scored 10 runs.

Kline will return to Brunswick Community College for the fall semester, and younger sister Courtney Kline, a 2016 Montini grad, will also head to North Carolina this fall to attend and play softball for Wake Tech Community College in Raleigh, N.C.
