Doc Motor Works of Shorewood gives back to community

SHOREWOOD – On May 21, Doc Motor Works in Shorewood took part in Family Service Day - Keeping Cars Kickin', which is a national program designed to help businesses share their expertise and give back to the community.

Doc Motor Works provided general automotive maintenance and car-care education at no charge to families in the Shorewood community need of help caring for their vehicles, according to a news release. Families were pre-selected and referred by Shorewood Church of God, Christ Community Church in Plainfield, and Three Rivers Church.

Owner Scott Wisneski chose to partner with these organizations as a way to reach out to families in need.

“In our industry, we have the unique ability to fix cars,” Wisneski said in the news release. " ... We are donating our facilities and automotive expertise as a way of giving back to our community. Our local business sponsors are also helping to give back by donating supplies, food, and materials for kid’s activities."

This was the shop's second Family Service Day event, according to the news release. Besides the vehicle aspect, Doc Motor Works provided various activities to keep children entertained while the family car was serviced, including a jumpy house supplied by Factory Motor Parts and a visit from the Troy Fire Department.

Local business sponsors include: Advance Auto Parts, Auto Zone, Dominos Pizza, Dunkin’ Donuts, Firehouse Subs, Jimmy Johns Sandwiches, and Starbucks.
