MORRISON – Elmer L. “Skip” Schipper, 72, of Morrison, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at Regency Care in Sterling. He was employed by the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. in Sterling.
Elmer was born Sept. 26, 1943, in Morrison, the son of Elmer M. and Florence (Reynolds) Schipper. Elmer married Judy M. Kuehl on July 11, 1970, in Morrison. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2012. He married Faye L. Thayer on Sept. 27, 2013, in Sterling.
Survivors include his wife, Faye; two sons, Larry (Mary) Schipper of Morrison and Alan (Paula) Schipper of Sterling; one stepdaughter, Nicole Thayer of Sterling; five sisters, Janis Eichenberger and Sharon Messer, both of Charles City, Iowa, Patsy (Andy) de Anda and Michelle (Fred) Cobo, both of Texas, and Alice (Jim) Robinson of Oklahoma; and three brothers, Allen C. Schipper of Texas, William M. (Margaret Ann) Schipper of Oklahoma, and Harry Rimrod of Charles City, Iowa.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Carol Gable.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ryan Sutton, pastor of Morrison United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be at Round Grove Cemetery in rural Morrison.
A memorial has been established by the family.
