DOWNERS GROVE – Lemon Tree Grocer/Zest Bistro in Downers Grove will close at the end of the year for remodeling, with a plan to reopen in the spring, according to a news release.
The store will close after it’s last dinner service on Dec. 31.
As part of the remodeling, the business will reconcept with a stronger emphasis on the restaurant and bar area and less focus on the grocery retail.
“[Co-owner] Shaun [Black] and I want to thank our team and patrons for the great memories we’ve had over the past five years,” executive chef and co-owner Tim Canning said in the release. “We have been fortunate to operate a store and restaurant in a community that embraces our love for food.”
Zest Bistro was featured on the "Restaurant Impossible" last spring, reality TV show starring Chef Robert Irvine, who goes throughout the country helping struggling businesses.
While the location will be closed, the Lemon Tree Grocer located in the Downers Grove Metra Station will continue to serve to serve coffee, teas and pastries.
As part of the closing, they will offer discounts on everything in the store.
